“Peace is not a spectator sport… The enemies of peace don't need your approval.
All they need is your apathy.”

~President Bill Clinton

On October 2, 2015, President Bill Clinton welcomed The Anne Frank Center USA to The Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, Arkansas to help open its newest permanent installation, The Anne Frank Tree.

At the centerpiece of the exhibit is a sapling from the very tree that stood outside the Secret Annex, where Anne Frank, her family, and four others hid during World War II. Anne wrote lovingly about the tree several times in her diary. It is the eight sapling to be planted as part of the AFC’s Sapling Project.

In speaking of Anne at the ceremony, President Clinton said,"Her life is a constant reminder that even young children can quickly be demonized and marked for death simply because of who they are...It is amazing to look at all human history and realize how much energy has been wasted by people obsessing about our differences and how vulnerable those people are of being taken advantage of by people who just really want power, money, or both."

Ronald Leopold, Executive Director of The Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, also spoke at the event. For more information, including a video of the ceremony, please see below.
