Rob de Vos


After his Economics Studies (specialization Industrial Organization) in Amsterdam, Consul General Rob de Vos entered the Dutch Foreign Service in 1978. During his first assignment he was a member of the team that opened an Embassy in North Yemen. After postings in Dar es Salaam and London (Economic Department) he opened a Diplomatic Mission in Bamako (Mali). Rob subsequently served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as deputy Chief of Personnel Affairs responsible for recruitment and training and career development of the Foreign Service. After this assignment he worked as deputy Chief of Mission in Madrid. From 2002-2007 Rob served at the MFA in het capacity of deputy Director General for Regional and Consular Affairs, after that he was a Deputy Director General for International Cooperation and acting DG for International Cooperation. Before his appointment as Consul General of the Netherlands in New York, Rob de Vos was the Netherlands Ambassador to South Africa.

Rob de Vos is a member of the Executive Committee of the African Economic Research Consortium. He is married and has two children.
